It's inevitable that there will be a slew of Y2K-themed hacks this year, but as we all know Macs don't have a Y2K bug. I hasten to note, however, that our beloved Internet relies on more than just Macs. In order to guarantee continuous web access through the millenium, a reliable technology will have to be in place to reinforce today's less-than-robust methods. My hack is just such a technology.
A FACT
YRTP stands for Yellow and Red Transfer Protocol.
BEHIND THE MYTH
YRTP is programmed in Perl and Java Script. I wrote it with the intention of running it in my own domain, so a few of the references would have to be changed if you want to run it elsewhere. Replace all occurances of "fecundity.com" with your URL, put the cgi in the cgi-bin, and put the other files in a folder called "codeweb" (or whatever you edit the references to be).
If that seems like more trouble than it's worth, you can scope the code here and surf the execution on my web site. It will be posted there for the forseeable future. Check it out at http://www.fecundity.com/codeweb
I want to extend special thanks to the Australian National Botanic Gardens.
